2019 Gloucester 10k Success - Dates for 2020 Race Announced
Davies and Partners Solicitors would like to say a massive thank you to all those who helped make the original Gloucester 10k a massive success in 2019.
This was the 6th running of the race which was established by Davies and Partners as a community event after the catastrophic failure of a commercial event that preceded it and which caused traffic gridlock around Gloucester.
As a community event there have been massive contributions from the Gloucester community and also those further afield and we have been able to give all proceeds back to the community.
Amongst those that have really made their mark on the event are construction company E G Carter & Co Ltd who have been the headline sponsors for the last 3 years and Gloucester Quays Rotary Club without whose support the event would not have got off the ground and which has supplied the marshals for the running of the event.
The event would also not happen without the massive support of those prepared to run in it from the serious athlete to those undertaking a race for the first time. Every year the race has been full.
Over the 6 years of the event in excess of £50,000 has been distributed to charity. This year contributions have been made to Young Gloucestershire, Heart Heroes and to the local branches of MIND and CLIC Sargent with other beneficiaries in previous years including the James Hopkins Trust, Gloucestershire Nightstop and Gloucestershire Young Carers.
As far as the organisation is concerned, it hasn’t been without stress over the years – Nigel Tillott the Race Director and Head of Davies and Partners Gloucester recalls toilets arriving after the start of the race, Llanthony Bridge being lifted when the race was already in progress and last year the route being blocked 48 hours before the race with a need for an urgent rerouting and remeasure. Despite all these issues, Nigel says what makes it all worthwhile is the scale of the voluntary support and contributions from so many different sources that go into making the event successful and which allows significant monies to be raised for good causes.
This year’s event is scheduled for 5th July 2020. Entries will open on 1st February 2020.
