Davies and Partners Sponsor The Gloucester History Festival
For the eighth year in succession, Davies and Partners Solicitors is delighted to have supported and sponsored The Gloucester History Festival 2018, which was run across various venues across the City from 1-16 September.
Davies and Partners has been one of the original sponsors of the event, which began as a small history concept, devised by Richard Graham, M.P. for Gloucester. Since then, The History Festival has grown to become a nationally recognised event covering local, national and international history.
Apart from supporting the two-week event, Davies and Partners also sponsored a fascinating talk given by Lord David Owen on the subject of “Winston Churchill & the 1940 War Cabinet”. The talk was held in the stunning 13th century medieval Blackfriars Priory site, in the heart of Gloucester.
The former Foreign Secretary and also the co-founder of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), spoke to a full house and drew on secret Cabinet papers to reveal the fascinating drama of how Winston Churchill’s leadership steered the country through the early years of World War II. He also highlighted many lesser-known facts about Churchill, including the fact he had very strong people skills, which he used to great effect.
Managing Director at Davies and Partners, Gloucester, Nigel Tillott said, “The Firm has always been very proud to be associated with the History Festival in the City, where we have been based for over 30 years. We were delighted to be associated with not just the Festival, but also supporting Lord Owen’s candid talk, which was very well received by the audience.”
