Ian is a senior employment law specialist in the Birmingham office, with more than 20 years’ experience as a solicitor specialising in employment law. He is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Experienced, knowledgeable and a robust advocate, Ian provides advice in all areas of the law at work. When problems arise which cannot be resolved in the workplace, Ian can be assured to provide staunch support in Employment Tribunal cases, providing informed, clear, commercial advice on the options available.
Ian advises employees, directors, groups of workers and their representatives, commercial businesses of all sizes, in many differing sectors and industries, from start-ups to listed PLCs and including public sector and not for profit organisations.
He will often appear as an advocate before Employment Tribunals, and he has brought and defended proceedings relating to issues over restraint of trade, trade secrets and unfair competition after employees have left businesses taking customers with them. He has also taken a case to Europe, arguing his client’s case before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
As a member of the regulatory team, Ian advises on a number of areas of regulation, including data protection and the GDPR. Ian has also defended Nurses in professional conduct proceedings before the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
