Lawyer has personal goal for marathon

STOP PRESS: Nigel Tillott ran a personal best in the London Marathon on Sunday 25 April, completing the 26+mile course in 3.20 hours, despite getting cramp in during the final 2 miles. Nigel believes he has raised over £1800 for Diabetes UK, through personal sponsorship for the race and donatations made at his Mother's funeral.  He would like to thank all those who sponsored him.

Employment Solicitor Nigel Tillott is to take part in the London Marathon on Marathon Sunday 25 April, in a bid to raise money for Diabetes UK following the recent death of his mother from the disease.
Nigel, who is a Partner and specialist employment lawyer at Davies and Partners Solicitors in Gloucester has in recent years raised over £5,000 for charity through previous marathon runs. But as he embarks on his fifth marathon, Nigel is keen to raise as much money as possible for Diabetes UK, which is the largest charity in the UK devoted to the treatment and care of people with diabetes.

To make fund raising even more fun Nigel has launched a sweepstake amongst colleagues and clients. For people who want to guess the time he will cross the finish line of the 26 mile race they can pay a minimum donation of £1 for each guess. He is also seeking wider sponsorship through www.justgiving.com/Nigel-Tillott-runslondon
Nigel has been putting in many hours of training which began several months ago. He has had to contend with the freezing winter conditions and even at one stage injuring his foot when he put it down a manhole cover which had been removed and was hidden by snow.
Commenting Nigel said, "The training certainly doesn't get any easier no matter how many races I take part in. For marathons it comes down to how I cope with the last six miles – for both previous marathons cramp has set in the final stages so I am hoping this time I can get through OK. This is a very personal fund raising challenge for me as I am keen to support the excellent work of Diabetes UK. My mother suffered greatly from the disease during the later years of her life and I want to be able to raise as much money as I can for her memory and this great cause. ."
