Clinical Negligence: When can I make a claim

• There is a three year time limit for issuing proceedings after the date of negligence or the date on which an individual knew that they had been injured as a result of an act or omission by a third party.  In cases involving children the three year time limit ends at the child’s 21^st birthday.

• Human Rights claims have a one year time limit from the date of the negligence.

• Investigating a claim takes time and it is better to approach a lawyer sooner rather than leave it closer to the time limits.
